Getting stuck on the side of the road is never fun. It can be made worse if you need to wait a long time for towing assistance to reach you. This video explains some of the reasons it can take a while to get a tow truck to you so that you can know what to expect in a roadside emergency.
Many people have roadside assistance packages included with their car insurance. If you are stuck on the side of the road, you can call a roadside assistance motor club which will then dispatch a tow truck. However, the tow trucks may be from a third-party service, and not make a lot of money from answering the call to action.
The motor club may not have your best interest at heart. They do not hang up after you call them and actually call a tow truck service closest to you. Instead, they will call up multiple tow trucks and try to get the lowest cost possible. They start a bidding competition while you are stuck on the road.
