Don’t Be Late to Tee Time With a Reliable Golf Cart

Pre owned golf carts

Golf is a past time enjoyed by many people all over the world. Although some may not pay attention to the sport regularly, everyone knows what the Master’s in golf is, and figures like Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth are recognized in popular culture. But why do people enjoy golf so much and invest in the gear? Even a pre-owned golf cart can be rather expensive. Like any sport, many people enjoy it for the exercise and the challenge — getting that perfect swing and becoming a putting pro. Additionally, golf courses are usually beautiful swathes of nature that are serene, well cared for, and enjoyable to walk through. Investing in golf carts, such as a pre-owned golf cart, can be a useful tool, especially for beginners, if only to carry all the gear around. You can find both used golf carts and new golf carts from a golf cart dealer.
The Origin of Golf
Golf as we know it today was started in — of all places! — fifteenth century Scotland, although it was banned because the king thought it was a distraction from his men learning archery! The standard eighteen hole golf course was created in the 18th century and golf came to America in 1888 at the St. Andrews Golf Club, located in Yonkers, NY. A popular myth was that golf originally stood for gentlemen only, ladies forbidden, although that myth has since been debunked.
Today, golf has been standardized and controlled by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrew’s (RandA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA).
What You Should Know About Golf Carts
Golf carts are often what teens first learn to drive on! You can be as young as 13 and drive a golf cart in Georgia, Alabama, California, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Rhode Island, Vermont, and South Carolina. Other states have an age limit of 14 to 15 years old. They can even be modified to go over 20 miles an hour, but in this case, they’re considered motor vehicles and must abide by the same laws. Usually, however, their top speeds are more in the neighborhood of 15 to 25 miles per hour. They’re allowed on the street — check with your state and district first of course — if the posted speed limit is at 35 mph or under.
They’re useful tools for carrying all the golf gear around, like clubs, tees, and other personal gear and their cargo box capacity is usually around 370 pounds. (However, this can vary, depending on the type of golf cart.) They’re a fairly small size, with the dimensions typically around four feet wide, eight feet long, and six feet high, but despite that can hold anywhere from two to ten passengers. They weigh around 1,000 pounds and get their power from a 4-stroke engine.
Golf carts can cost you a pretty penny however, with prices anywhere between $3,000 and $30,000, depending on if it’s a luxury model or not. A pre-owned golf cart will cost you significantly less money and may work just as well as a new one! However, you will have to invest in golf cart batteries, since the average lifespan of a golf cart battery is between two to three days.
How You Can Get Involved in Golf
Anyone can play golf! Although the stereotype of golfers is often that of the wealthy, you don’t need to have a lot of money to play golf. If there’s a golf course near you, there’s a good chance that it (or the country club/resort/hotel it’s sponsored on) offers some kind of lessons that you or your kids could take. And golf gear lasts for awhile, so it’s certainly an investment, especially if you find a pre-owned golf cart. You may find the sport both challenging and relaxing and it’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors and spend some time in the sun!
If you’ve been looking for a sport that requires a decent amount of skill, but not too much exertion, try golf! You’ll challenge your mind and your body, but don’t have to worry about it being tough on joints or getting injured.
